Yamazaki Mazak has put on a month’s worth of festive activities for its production staff after November 2022 saw its European Manufacturing Plant produce the highest number of machines for three years.
The month-long programme saw employees treated to a broad array of festive fun, with each day involving a different activity. These included a range of Christmas treats such as mince pies, doughnuts and hot chocolate, as well as a number of different games and competitions including finding the ‘Elf on the Shelf’, ping pong and darts.
One of the standout moments was a Christmas Karaoke session, led by ‘Stale’ – a duet by assembly supervisor, Steve Lane and assembly assistant manager, Dale Astley.
Mazak’s European Manufacturing Plant is responsible for the production of an extensive range of UK-designed and built machines, including the highly popular entry-level CV5-500 5-axis machining centre as well as the VCN-700 and VCE-600 next generation vertical machining centres.
Ben Bonds, general manager – production, at Yamazaki Mazak, commented: “November 2022 was a record month for machine tool production here for the past three years, so we wanted to show our appreciation to all our staff who worked flat-out to reach such an impressive number.
“To achieve this feat took a real team effort, especially after such a challenging three years for UK manufacturing. However, it has been great to reward the production staff for all their hard work and really get into the festive spirit in the run up to Christmas.”
The record month for production is the latest benchmark of success following a sustained period of investment in the manufacturer’s flagship European facility.
This includes the installation of a state-of-the-art twin-pallet Versatech V-140N/280 and FJV-60/80 double-column vertical machining centre, as well two manufacturing cells equipped with an Integrex i-Series machine and RoboJob automation system.
